A Continent of Confluences
According to the latest report issued by the Latin America and Caribbean Economic Commission (CEPAL), direct foreign investment in the region last year reached a record high $184.9 billion, up 5 percent from 2012.
Little by little, nations are pushing onto new roads on a quest to build more dynamic societies in terms of economic growth. And tourism is precisely one of the powerhouses behind this uptick, a sector that has set out to diversify and strengthen in both their traditional outbound markets and the emerging ones.
We are talking about a region with tremendous cultural and historic potentials, laden with traditions and, above all, a prodigious nature that takes us to the most exciting and breathtaking landscapes, either volcanoes, islands, keys, forests, beaches or exotic paradises teeming with an assortment of flora and wildlife species.
To top it all off, there are colonial cities that awe visitors with the image of places where time seems to stand still, sprinkled with people and ancient traditions in handicrafts, gastronomy and culture across the board.
Latin America and the Caribbean reach out to everybody in those places where trade and tourism are shared, by the hand of tour operators, travel agencies and mass media organizations that show a whole and genuine region to the world.
